Beginners Yoga/ Bellydance with Siobhan.Russell
Beginners Yoga/Bellydance classes will start with a fifteen minute warm up of yoga then on to an hour of basic bellydance movements and then moving onto fifteen minutes of cooldown with yoga. Bellydance has existed in nearly every culture in one form or another danced by people of all ages and genders. The benefits of bellydance are well worth the effort for relieving fatigue, energizing your body, mind and spirit! The movements are powerful and hypnotic! The more energized movements are beneficial for people with depression and or anxiety disorders. Bellydance can enhance your self confidence with the same intentions we bring to our yoga practice. It can also be practiced as a prenatal exercise in its more fluid movements to strengthen the pelvic muscles and relaxes the mother to be. The movements also help a mother to connect with her child and helps with post pregnancy recovery. Increase muscle tone, healthy posture, endurance, flexibility, body coordination and confidence in yourself!
Recovery Yoga with Siobhan.Russell
Recovery Yoga is gentler than gentle yoga. It is designed for the chronically ill, injured, and postoperative. Classes will focus on increasing your sense of well being physically and emotionally by helping you take power into yourself to meet the challenges in your present state of health. Recovery Yoga is for people where even beginners traditional hatha yoga is too difficult. The goal is not to become a pretzel or even to achieve and master mind boggling poses by the end of eight weeks. Recovery Yoga is to enhance our quality of life gently and naturally with breath awareness and very gentle movements coordinated with the breath while lying on the floor or sitting in a chair. The focus is on achieving realistic, attainable goals targeting what you can do. Recovery Yoga may or may not help you “recover” in the physical sense. It alone will not lead anyone to perfect health but is merely a stepping stone to minimizing the feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness that can come up from injury and change in health.

Initiated by Guylaine Williams: “My Monday night Asana by Dana class is open to intermediate and advanced yoga asana (physical form) students. Dana is a Sanskrit term for giving. Suggested donation is $10, but your donation is optional. The idea is to perpetuate that thread of giving and receiving that shows up in all relationships and is a beautiful reminder that we are all mutually dependent and connected. Come and practise with others!”
